Does this sound like you?

“I’m looking for the right next opportunity, and I don’t want to land somewhere only to leave again in a year. I’m having a hard time articulating exactly what I’m looking for in a new role, and I struggle to position myself in the current job market.”

“The tools and skills that have always worked for me in past roles aren’t solving the next level of complex problems I’m facing as I grow. It helps me to talk things through with someone, and I don’t have that sounding board in my current organization.”

“The balance in my life is out of whack. I’m making progress in my professional role, but my family life is suffering, and I have no time for my own interests. I’ve gathered tips about ways to improve this, but I seem to habitually deprioritize doing things for myself. How do I get out of this rut?”

What’s involved in a coaching relationship?

To create space for reflection, understanding, exploration, discovery, insights, and learning, our coaching relationship must be based on a deep sense of trust. To build that trust, we will approach our relationship with:

Openness: no topic is too sensitive to discuss, and we will bring mutual candor; if a topic or question arises that you do not wish to discuss, you are welcome to decline to discuss it.

Confidentiality: the contents of our coaching discussions are confidential.

Accountability: you trust me to hold you accountable to your words and actions; I will ask you for commitments to your actions, and we will discuss what is successful.

Shared goals: we are working toward the same goals and outcomes, which we will define, adapt over time, and work toward together.

I will be your ally and champion, encouraging you to reach for what you want and reminding you to celebrate your successes, large and small.

How long is an engagement?

It depends on your situation. I typically expect a 3-month commitment once we begin coaching, so that we have the time to dig into your goals – career and otherwise – and make progress on them. Some clients have kept going for months beyond that. Occasionally a client experiences a major change early in the coaching engagement, and we pause for a bit while things settle in.

We meet twice a month for deep 90-minute coaching sessions typically over zoom, to explore your goals, the actions you’re accountable for, and what you’re experiencing in your life. Between sessions, I’m available for brief asynchronous check-ins – I want to hear the update on that job application or challenging conversation before our next call! We’ll also leave each session with commitments (a.k.a. homework) you’re taking on to write, observe, explore areas, etc. so you are getting the most out of our time together.

A webpage is no substitute for a conversation, so let’s connect and talk about your challenges and how I might support you in defining and moving toward your goals.

What does success look like?

Jordyn was successful in her work as a User Experience Designer in the healthcare sector, but realized the tiny startup she was working at was not the right fit. She wasn’t even sure that UX Design was the right fit anymore, which made the idea of a job search overwhelming.

I coached her through her exit plan from the startup, to maintain strong connections and set appropriate boundaries on the way out. We then dug deeply into what she loves to do – working with innovative teams, advocating for patients, etc. – to expand her thinking to other adjacent roles that would be more satisfying to her. Along the way, she was amazed to find how much her network was available to support her in exploring other roles and surfacing opportunities.

I guided her to strongly articulate the role she wanted as well as how her past experiences made her well-suited to that work, and supported her telling of her career journey in an empowered and confident way. We developed a clear rubric for the criteria for her next role and organization, so much so that she was able to confidently say “no thanks” to a role she was interviewing for when it became clear it wasn’t a fit. It took some time to find the right thing, but she knew it when she found it, and was excited to pivot into this new function at a company that would support her journey.

“Working with Tiana as a coach has changed the way I think about myself. She has created the space and structure to think critically about who I am, what my strengths are, and what I truly want in a career and my life. From scaffolded activities to accountability, she has helped me move and reframe my goals immensely. I know that she will support what I bring to the table, challenge me to dig deeper, and remind me to celebrate all the wins along the way.”
